McCarthy Takes Over Boys Basketball

Greenfield High School Boys Basketball will have a new face running the program in Missouri Valley graduate Matt McCarthy. McCarthy comes to Greenfield after stints at Everton High School and Macks Creek High School.

McCarthy takes over from Preston Hyde who resigned his position to focus on administrative duties as Greenfield Junior and Senior High School principal. McCarthy is eager for the season to start and sees a similar foundation for his players to start from in the gym. "Taking over for Mr. Hyde has not been as difficult of a task as some may think," states McCarthy. "I am starting at a new school with a new group of kids, but Mr. Hyde prepared them in ways similar to what I have done in the past." McCarthy spent time at Missouri Valley College while Hyde was there as well.

McCarthy has 30 or so students out for the season and is excited to see that level of interest in the program. "This is the most kids I have had while going into my fourth year of coaching in a small school district," expresses McCarthy. "I like to see how large of numbers there are; it is great to expand the program and get more kids involved."

McCarthy will lead the Wildcats into action at the Chadwick Jamboree on Tuesday, November 13th and will have first regular season action on Monday, November 19th at home against Everton.
