In preparation for flu season and to help with home screening for sickness, we have partnered with the Kinsa Fluency program to help get a smart thermometer into every home. In addition to the thermometer, you will have access to real time information and updates about what illnesses are going around in your child's classroom. This is a voluntary program, but a great resource!

Twin Dragons restaurant is the sponsor of Greenfield High School’s new A+Program Banner. The banners are a way to honor A+ graduates who, as part of the program scholarship requirements, tutor and mentor younger students. The GHS senior class of 2020 had thirteen students who earned this distinction. Our sincere thanks goes to Gemper McCoy, owner and operator of Twin Dragons, as well as to her daughter Princess Jeffreys, restaurant manager and bookkeeper. Princess, herself a 2018 A+ graduate who attends Southwest Baptist University, is pictured here with program coordinator Kelly Kramer.

Hello, Wildcats!
We have made it to the beginning of week 3 and so far, so good! We are starting to see students with allergy symptoms which is to be expected as the season is starting to change. Because allergy symptoms are so similar to COVID-19 symptoms, please make sure that your child's allergies are being treated so that this doesn't affect their ability to stay in school. We want to keep our kids here!
Please continue to do your daily wellness screenings at home. We must continue this practice to help keep our students in school and learning, so let's work together to make that happen!
If your child has any of the following symptoms, please keep them home (if you have any questions about symptoms, feel free to call me at 417-637-5921 ext. 1212 and I will assist you in making the decision whether they should stay home or not).
• Fever or chills
• Cough
• Muscle aches
• Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
• New loss of taste or smell
• New runny nose or congestion
• Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
• Sore throat
• Close contact with a person with COVID-19 in the last 14 days
Also, please don't forget to send your child with a water bottle. Thank you so much for your help keeping our students healthy and learning!
Natasha Myers, R.N.

Nicole Veach and Elle Loonsfoot have qualified for the FCCLA National STAR Event Competition. They completed their chapter service project, Penny Wars, in December raising money for the Dade County Food Pantry. The girls presented their project at regional STAR Events, received a gold medal, and qualified for state. The state competition was not able to be held, therefore, national qualifiers were selected based upon regional scores. Veach and Loonsfoot will be participating in the virtual National Competition in July. Congratulations, ladies!

Greenfield Families,
We would like your feedback and input regarding potential summer school classes. We would also like to survey your child's access to home Internet and devices. Please click the link below to complete the survey.

Governor Parsons has announced that Missouri schools will remain closed through the end of the 2019-2020 academic year calendar.

Attention A+ Seniors:
The Missouri Department of Higher Education has modified the A+Program requirements for 2020 graduates only. The modifications include:
1) The math requirement has been eliminated since we are not giving EOC’s and ACT testing has been suspended.
2) A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) is required. There is no need to use the sliding scale since the math requirement has been eliminated.
3) Seniors must have completed at least 25 hours (instead of 50 hours) of supervised tutoring.
The cumulative average daily attendance requirement of 95% remains the same. As it is every year, A+ eligibility will be determined once transcripts are finalized. As such, I am unable to definitively tell you if you are eligible at this time. Please continue to stay well.
Kelly Kramer
A+Program Coordinator

Beginning this week, student meals will be available to pick up at the Elementary School Monday - Thursday, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. Meals will not be handed out on Fridays. Instead students picking up a meal on Thursday will receive meals for both Thursday and Friday.

The ongoing impact of COVID-19 in our region requires school districts to be flexible and make decisions that are in the best interest of public health. In consultation with the Dade County Health Department, and Dade County School Superintendents, we have made a joint decision to extend the “Wellness Break” of our respective Districts through April 24, 2020.
Greenfield R-IV understands that this is an uncertain time for our students, families, and communities, but we remain focused on protecting the safety and well-being of students, staff, and families.

Doors to both school buildings will be open this week for parents/students to stop by and pick up classwork packets for all students. Stop by the front entrance of our buildings Tuesday, March 24th to Friday, March 27th from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm to get your enrichment packets.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for students beginning Thursday, March 19, 2020. Times for pick up will be from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm daily at the circle drive behind the Elementary School Building (near the playground). Meals will be similar to sacked lunches served during summer school or on past field trips. Each student will receive lunch for the day and breakfast for the following day. All meals will be picked up and consumed at home. District cafeterias will not be open. The elementary school will be the location of meal pick up for all grades PK-12.

The Greenfield R-IV School District will be closing beginning Tuesday, March 17th to Friday April 3rd for a wellness break. In consultation with health department officials, this is in the best interest for student and community health. All co- and extra-curricular events and sports practices are also suspended, effective immediately. Updates will be made available as the situation changes.

Reminder: School will be out during the week of March 9th - March 13 for Spring Break. School will not be in session, Monday, March 16th, as that day is no longer being used as a snow make-up day. Students will return to school Tuesday, March 17th.

Due to an influx of sickness, we would like to go over our policy on illness as well as a few ways to help protect your family from everything currently going around (we are mostly seeing strep, a stomach virus and the flu at this time).
Illness — Healthy children are better learners; therefore, please DO NOT send children to school if they have a FEVER, DIARRHEA, OR HAVE VOMITED. If your child has vomited or experienced diarrhea, he/she must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school. Children must be fever free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school. We will send your student home if they have a fever of 101.0 degrees or above (or less if your student is symptomatic). It is also recommended that you send a water bottle to school with your student to stay hydrated.
How To Protect You and Your Family from the Flu & other sickness
Get the Flu Vaccine
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and throw the tissue in the trash after using it. If you do not have a tissue, cover your coughs and sneezes with the inside of your elbow, not your bare hands.
Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
If you are sick with flu-like illness, it is recommended that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone.
While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
Disinfect your environment, especially during sickness.
Build your immune system by eating fruits/veggies, exercising regularly, get adequate sleep, taking vitamins (specifically C, B6 and E).
Medications — Any medication (prescription and over the counter) must be brought to the school by a parent/guardian and given to the nurse. Students are NOT allowed to bring or transport any types of medication to school in their backpacks. This is to keep everyone safe. Please contact Nurse Natasha if you have any questions or refer to our handbook.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I can be reached at 417-637-5921 ext. 1212 or through email at nmyers@greenfieldr4.org

The Junior High Boys Basketball HOME game vs. Skyline has been moved up to 5:00p.m. The game will be held in the High School gym. GO BIG BLUE!

Third grade students have just started to learn about fractions. In order to help with understanding fractions, students were paired with one another and completed a hands-on activity. After students partitioned various objects into equal parts, they had a "fraction museum walk" around the room to observe other students' work. They had great discussions after the activity, which in turn will guide them to new skills in fractions. Basic math skills like understanding fractions, are crucial for everyone to master. From cooking and carpentry to sports and sewing, we can't escape factions in our daily lives!

We encourage parents to help us combat this epidemic by having these types of conversations with their young drivers. #1school1community1wildcatfamily

Mr. Cox has began a fun unit by venturing into each elementary classroom, once per quarter, and reading a short story followed by a mini lesson. This element of immersion allows students to continue building relationships, as well as a bringing a calming sense of familiarity, with Mr. Cox, building principal. After the first week of readings, we aren't sure who is enjoying themselves more...the kids or Mr. Cox! #w1ldcats
