Greenfield Wins in Return to 11-Man

The Varsity Football team made a victorious return back to 11-man football with a 22-8 victory over Liberal in Liberal, MO on Friday, August  24th. It was the Wildcats first 11-man game since 2013.

The Wildcats used a strong defensive effort led by senior Gage Burns and juniors Levi Matthews and Quin Morrow. The Wildcat defensive held Liberal to 200 yards of total offensive while recording a safety, four sacks, two takeaways, and 12 tackles for lost yards. Senior Nico Murray added several strong defensive plays as well.

The Wildcat offense had success as well being led by Burns and senior quarterback Bailey Baker. Burns had several big runs that put the Wildcats into scoring position and Baker added a rushing and passing touchdown to Morrow. Levi Matthews added the final score of the night.

Overall the game was success, but Coach Justin Breedlove knows work still needs  to be done. The Wildcat defense was flagged over 10 times for over 100 yards of penalties in a game that did not seem as close as the score.

The Wildcats beat Osceola on Friday, August 31 80-20 and return 11-man action to Greenfield on Friday, September 7th against Forsyth.
