Greenfield Elementary Student Council (StuCo)

The Greenfield Elementary Student Council (StuCo) was created last year (17/18 school year) as an enrichment organization to promote student understanding of government. Its other goals were to give students a sense of having a voice in school issues as well as promote the desire to be involved in community service. It consists of 3 officers made up of 6th graders and two representatives from each class 4th grade and above.  Their regular meeting is for one hour monthly and follows a set agenda.

These goals proved to be lofty ones that presented a challenge to students! They progressed throughout the last year as it was a learning opportunity for both students and staff.

This year (18/19) the student Council has already provided services to the school through leading daily announcements, the pledge of allegiance, as escorts for Grandparent’s Day, Election of Teacher of the Month, and casting deciding votes on the theme for Red Ribbon Week (which is the  week of October 22-26).

They will be engaging in a Can Food Drive,  fundraising efforts, and assisting teachers/secretary whenever needed.

Look for part of StuCo to be a walking unit in the HOMECOMING Parade (09/28/18)!

This year’s officers are Joseph Land as President, Austin Pickett the Vice-president, and Phillip Cooper being Recording Secretary.  Representatives this year include: 4th graders Mattie Back, Cailey Boyd, Noah Logan and Owen Daniel; 5th graders Kayleigh Back, Kaydee Mann, Addie O’Conner and Kyleigh Robinson; 6th graders Emily Beasley, Zach Boyd, Andrew Fowler, and Gwen Septer. Faculty sponsors are Camille Whitaker, Sterling Moore and William Turner.

These Students have been working diligently to promote school involvement, school spirit, and being the examples of our new expectations that other students should follow!
