Greenfield Volleyball Ends Season

The Greenfield Lady Wildcats played host to the Class 1 District 8 volleyball tournament on October 22nd and 23rd. After winning their play in game on Monday, October 22nd against Golden City, Greenfield lost to overall one seed Miller and district runner-up on Tuesday, October 23rd in the semifinals. The Lady Wildcats finished the season 17-10-4.

On Monday, October 22nd, the fourth seeded Lady Wildcats overcame a slow start in the first set against Golden City to win 25-20. Strong serves and offensive play by Lauren Jones helped bring the Lady Wildcats roaring back from an early deficit. Adriauna Wallen and Kiarra Mai helped with strong play, both offensively and defensively to aid the comeback victory. The Lady Wildcats took early control in the second set to win the match, 25-18.

On Tuesday, October 23rd, the Lady Wildcats faced a tough foe in top-seeded Miller. Strong team play and strong defense led by senior Rendie Burns and sophomores Morgan Wright and Ashley Daniel were not enough, as the Lady Wildcats fell to Miller in two sets. 

The season was a bright one for the Lady Wildcats who reached double digit wins for the first time in several years. Lauren Jones set a mark in career kills and earned first team All District honors. Adriauna Wallen and Kiarra Mai both earned second team All District honors to conclude stellar years. Rendie Burns finished her high school volleyball career as a vital defensive player and key server for the Wildcats.

The Lady Wildcats will look to build off this year's success as the team returns several key players for next season with to be seniors Adriauna Wallen and Aubrey Davis, to be juniors Morgan Wright and Ashley Daniel, and several players that played key roles in junior varsity competition. 

The Lady Wildcats will lose seniors Lauren Jones, Kiarra Mai, Rendie Burns, Alyssa Kelty, and Adreanna Garcia.

The Junior High Volleyball team finished their season with a competitive three set loss to Stockton on Thursday, October 11th. The 8th grade team finished with a record of 6-6-2 on the season, with many of these games being against larger schools. The 8th grade class will provide several players that hope to contribute at the high school level next fall.
