Greenfield Football Starts Season 2-0

Football season has just  started here at GHS, and the Wildcats are already putting together a great team effort and accumulating a 2-0 record thus far. After a strong showing on the road in week 1 action against Liberal, the Greenfield Football Wildcats traveled to Osceola for an 8-man football game in week 2. Greenfield came out on top 80-20. The wildcats were lead by QB Bailey Baker with 281 yards of total offense and 5 touchdowns. Defensively, Levi Matthews and Nico Murray lead the team in total tackles with both having 12 each. Another notable statistic is how well the offensive line is protecting Baker, only having him sacked twice this season thus far.

The football program has a rich tradition of winning, and first-year coach Justin Breedlove has the Wildcats working hard on and off the field. He is re-establishing grit and determination in the student-athletes and creating an environment of toughness and coachability. “I think we are using our speed very well through the first two games. These guys compete and play hard every play and have no quit,” Coach Breedlove stated. He went on to say, “We have a lot of missed assignments so far, but I am pleased with the efforts the kids are putting forth. I am excited for the more opportunities to learn in the coming weeks.”

Friday, September 7th, will be the Wildcats home opener against Forsyth. This will be the first 11-man football game Greenfield has hosted since 2013.
