blood drive

On Friday September 17th the Greenfield High School FCCLA students hosted a blood drive in cooperation with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks. The CBCO continues to fulfill the role of being the sole provider of blood products to 44 hospitals located in three states. When you donate blood with the CBCO it stays locally and Greenfield High School is proud to help our local hospitals across southwest and south central Missouri.   More than 50,000 donations of blood are required each year to meet the local transfusion needs of our friends and neighbors.

The FCCLA and CBCO set a goal of 20 donors, we had 23 people register and 17 who were able to donate. In addition to students and staff at Greenfield High School we also had several community members who participated in the blood drive. FCCLA students Conner Latham, Jayden Stephens, Sara Beirman and Brooke Richards volunteered their time at the canteen, ensuring our donors were provided with a snack and beverage as well as watching for any adverse reactions. FCCLA members Kaiden Daniel, Octavio Anaya, and Gabby Back helped in recruitment of teachers, family members and community. The students did a great job in facilitating and helping with the blood drive and thank everyone in the community and school who donated.

“Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is always mindful of who we represent – thousands of blood donors, who selflessly give of themselves so that others may live. We will always strive to make those thousands proud of the way in which we represent them. We encourage repeat donations through our innovative Life Points Local program, through which blood donors can earn awards for all of their efforts.” cbco.org
