Greenfield High School Hosts Job and Career Fair

On May 9th, Greenfield High School hosted a job and career fair for students. The event featured fifteen area businesses or places of employment for juniors and seniors to visit with and five speakers from different professions for our freshman and sophomores to learn about. Students were able to gain interview skills, build connections with local businesses, or learn more information about how to get into those specific careers.

Our freshman and sophomore students had the opportunity to listen to several speakers which included:

Art Hains- The voice of Missouri State Bears basketball, football, and baseball and host of Sports Talk on Jock 98.7

Clista Jarret- Entrepreneur and theater industry

Kayla Rinker- Freelance writer for various publications

Lori Radford- Adjunct professor at OTC for art

Darren J. Morrison- Attorney

These speakers presented in 30-minute increments for each group. Student were able to interact with our guests and learn more about their fields.

The vendors for our juniors and seniors included:

Pennington’s Seed

Laborers’ International Union of North America

Intermission Café

Dade County Health Department and Live Well Fitness Center

Dade County 9-1-1

Charles Rutledge 2020 Census Bureau

Zerco Consulting- Mitzie Zerr

Jeremy Edwards- Missouri Conservation Agent

Lincoln Tech

That Place

Dade County Road Department

IBEW- Rich Horton

Prairie Mountain Screening

Missouri State Park Rangers

Randy Meents

Our juniors and seniors were separated into groups of four or five students and given ten minutes to meet with each representative from the vendors. At the conclusion of the fair, students had the opportunity to re-visit any table to gather more information if needed. Students were asked interview questions, informed of potential job opportunities, and some places of employment had applications for them to fill out if interested in becoming an employee.

Many students have not had the experience in an interview type setting or had the opportunity to fill out a job application. This process is vital in equipping our students with the life skills they need to become even more prepared for life after high school.

On behalf of the Greenfield School District, we would like to thank each of these presenters and participants for taking time out of their day to invest into our student body. We are extremely grateful for the community support our school district receives!
