Chloe Mays, Greenfield eighth grader, has had her first place long rhymed poem from the Language Arts Department of Southwest Missouri (LAD) Fair chosen to be performed in the Dance-a-Poem program at 9:30 a.m. on April 27, 2024, at the LAD Fair held at Republic High School.

Chloe wrote her poem in her language arts class taught by Renee Burton. Her first place poem, titled Poetry, was entered in the 7th-8th grade division. To be chosen for the performance in the Dance-a-Poem program, a poem must be a first place winner and be conducive to a dance performance. This is a free event open to the public. All other LAD entries, including the 22 winners from Greenfield Jr. High, will be on display at the event. Students will receive their ribbons at the Greenfield Jr. High Awards Assembly on May 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
