Greenfield Basketball Prepares for Busy Month

After nearly two and a half weeks off, Greenfield Boys and Girls Basketball teams are preparing for a busy month of basketball in January. The Lady Wildcats will open play in January at home against Thomas Jefferson on Friday, January 3rd before traveling to Mt. Vernon to play Diamond in the Scoreboard Guy Shootout at 1:00 pm. Both teams will play in the Golden City (Week of January 7th) and Stockton (Week of January 14th) Tournaments.

Prior to the break, the Lady Wildcats finished November and December with a 7-3 record, with the Everton Tournament Championship under their belt. They received the one seed in the Golden City tournament and will begin tournament play on Monday, January 7th against Everton at 3:30 pm. The Lady Wildcats have been led by the strong guard play of seniors Lauren Jones and Kiarra Mai, as well as sophomore Morgan Wright. Post play has been a boost for the Lady Wildcats with juniors Adriauna Wallen and Hattie Taylor logging strong minutes in the paint.

The Boys' team played a very tough schedule during the months of November and December, which led to a 5-6 record. The boys are led by senior and junior guards Bailey Baker and Daunte Stafford. Both are playing at a high level and can lead the team in scoring on any given night. Seniors Gage Burns, Trenton Wilson, Tyrell Stafford, and Nico Murray are playing large roles in the Wildcat efforts, as well as juniors Levi Matthews and Quin Morrow. The Boys first game back from break will be Tuesday, January 8th against Everton to begin the Golden City Tournament.

Both teams received the six seed in the Stockton Tournament that begins on January 14th. The girls will play Miller on Monday, January 14th at 8:30 pm, while the boys will play Harrisonville on Tuesday, January 15th at 8:30 pm.
