Preschoolers Are Not Ladybugs This week has been such a busy week for us!! We are really good at keeping to a routine and following rules in school. The Number One rule in school is be safe. This week we continued to read and learn about bugs. We read about fireflies, crickets and ladybugs. One story, Are You a Ladybug?, taught us about the lifecycle of a ladybug. We agreed we are not ladybugs, we like to jump, run, and have friends!! We also do not shed our skin, like to eat bugs or fly!!! Today, we read the story of the Grouchy Ladybug. We talked about feeling happy, feeling grouchy and being nice to fiends. We even practiced making grouchy faces and happy faces. Each day this week, we met a new teacher who comes to our room. On Tuesday, we met Mr. Land, the librarian. He read us a story, that we really enjoyed listening to. On Wednesday, Mrs. Beeson came to sing with us. (I bet some of our parents remember her.). On Thursday, we met Coach Dobbs, we played Red Light, Green Light with her. Finally, on Friday we met Mrs. Jones, the art teacher. We are excited for her to visit us again with her special paints!!

Messy Night
It’s the night before we send our kids back to school. The excitement, the anticipation and it is finally here. I am excited to start this school year and watch our students grow. The following are updated procedures for the 2020-2021 school year. Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures: General Information **Students may not be dropped off before 7:30 a.m. If arriving before that time, students must remain in the car until the doors open. **Students are to report directly to their homeroom teacher’s classroom and the teacher will send them to breakfast if they eat school breakfast. **Please arrive early enough for students to eat breakfast and be prepared for the day to begin. **Due to COVID policies in place, all students will return to the classroom to eat breakfast. **Tardy bell rings at 8:00 am. **Transportation changes (between car or bus rider) must be made prior to 2:00 p.m. **Student bus stops may only be changed when a parent/guardian brings proof of residence to the office and makes a permanent change. (No one-day or short-term changes.) **Anyone checking out students in the office must bring a photo ID and be on the student's approved pick-up list. Car Line Procedures ***Anyone picking up students will be provided a Student Pick-Up Sign within the first two weeks of school. If the adult picking up the child does not have a Student Pick-Up Sign, they will be required to come to the main office doors and use their photo ID to check the child out. This is for the safety of our students. All parents picking up students must travel through the car pick-up line starting on the Northeast side of the Gymnasium. Car Line - Drive Through **Stay to the right of the circle drive. Please do not pass during parent pick-up. **In the morning, your child should be ready to exit on the right-hand (passenger) side of your car. **In the afternoon, display your Student Pick-Up Sign on your passenger visor once signs are made available to you. Food Service ● Meals will be served in throw-away containers. ● Students will eat in classrooms for breakfast. Classrooms will utilize the cafeteria for lunch. Social distancing and frequent sanitation will be in place in the cafeteria. ● Water fountains will only be used as water bottle filling stations. Families are asked to send a full water bottle with each student each day.

The ongoing impact of COVID-19 in our region requires school districts to be flexible and make decisions that are in the best interest of public health. In consultation with the Dade County Health Department, and Dade County School Superintendents, we have made a joint decision to extend the “Wellness Break” of our respective Districts through April 24, 2020. Greenfield R-IV understands that this is an uncertain time for our students, families, and communities, but we remain focused on protecting the safety and well-being of students, staff, and families.
