“There’s a curious commotion, at the bottom of the ocean. We think we ought to go and take a look”. In the Little Cat room, we have been learning about the ocean and the animals who live in it and around it. We have learned about sharks, who are the meanest, whales, who are the largest, and dolphins who are the friendliest!! We have also learned that we must take care of our environment and we should always put our trash in the trash can, so that it doesn’t end up in the ocean hurting the fish or on our beaches. Yuck!! Ms. Reid visited the ocean this spring and brought us sand, from the beach in Alabama. Today we used that sand, sea shells and ocean water to make our own “Oceans in a Bottle”! Check them out!!
Have you heard about the Football fundraiser? If not, you are missing out! Student athletes can get 2 t-shirts and 1 pair of royal blue shorts for $15! Community members can get the same package for $20! Order forms can be picked up at the HS or from a player. Due date: May 15th.

In the Little Cat room, students have been reading stories and talking about camping. Today we read about a bunny who wanted to go camping with his older brother and sister, but he was too little. So, Bailey did all of the fun camping activities at home with his parents. One of the activities was telling ghost stories. Today, we told stories around the campfire. Some of our stories were funny, some were silly and some were scary. One student’s scary story: “oooooohhhhh, one time a scary ghost scared my mom!”
Kindergarten and 1st Grade have been studying a Careers Unit in their Guidance and Counseling classes. Students learned about six different career paths and example jobs that each path entails. Last week, both grades wrapped up the unit by "Fishing for Careers".

Greenfield R-IV will be hosting an Immunization Clinic on Friday, May 10th. Parent/guardian must call Nurse Natasha for an appointment & required consent form as soon as possible. Parents are welcome to come be with their child during their shots, however if you are unavailable, Nurse Natasha will be on the bus with your child. This is the perfect opportunity to get the school required immunizations for incoming Kindergartners and the required tetanus and meningitis boosters for incoming 8th, 10th and 12th graders.
The Greenfield Preschool students took a field trip to Dade County Library with our National Honor Society students. Wildcats young and old reading together, making a difference!
New fencing at the elementary is complete. A big thank you to the Greenfield R-IV School Board and Dr. Kell for thinking about the safety of our kids while at recess. Thank you Anchor Fence for helping keep our kids safe. On another note, fences do not keep out curious snakes.

Classrooms around the world, including our 3rd grade classes at Greenfield, were able to tune in to a Skype in the Classroom broadcast event. We explored with Dr. Jane Goodall how to make a difference in our own communities! Dr. Jane and the Jane Goodall Institute team answered questions in the live chat. Our 3rd graders had many questions for her and her team. Dr. Jane Goodall is one of the biggest changemakers in history. She believes in the power of young people motivated to make a difference.

Greenfield Elementary preschool students made vegetable vests while studying seeds and vegetables. "Maybe we don't always eat all of our vegetables but we look good wearing them"!
Don't forget, the Elementary Spring Book Fair begins TODAY! There will be a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. The book fair is located in the Elementary Library and will be open April 1st - 5th from 8:00am - 4:00pm. Come see Mr. Land and get lost in a great book!

This week the kids will be completing their Math-a-thon booklets for St. Judes. We are extending the due date for donations to be turned in to April 5th so the kids can show what they completed in the math booklet. This fundraiser is in honor of one of our own Wildcat students. Thanks for all your efforts to raise money for St. Jude's.
